Are we going to discuss the lab report on monday and is there another test on monday because it wasn’t announced in class and it doesn’t say on the announcements on the website?
The intend is to have a multiple choice only test on Monday for bonding.
35 questions to be precise. 😉
The lab report if you have any questions we will discuss on Monday. It is not due on Monday.

Is there anything on sigma and pi bonds? If so what do we need to know specifically
Just basic definitions and the difference between them
Will the test include titration? If so, what on titration (Ex. Definition, tritating an equation and etc.)?
Calculations based on titration’s have been done in class similar and related problems will be there in your test.
Will there be formulas included on the exam or will we have to make cheat sheets or will we have to memorize them?
No cheat sheet, you will have to learn the formulas you will be given a periodic table, electronegativity values, reactivity of metals and nonmetals . Gas constant R will also be given.
By doing the review package will we be prepared for the multiple choice?
Should be, it will be a good idea to read the text
Hi
For information on Louis de Broglie and Erwin Schrödinger, do we just need to know that Erwin invented the shapes of orbitals using probability and mathematical equations and that Louis invented the Particle Wave Duality Theory which states that electrons can act as waves or particles? Or do we need more information on them?
For grade 11
Only basic information is needed. However shapes of molecules you need to know. Dual nature of matter the concept but not important for grade 11
If the question is for grade 12 Points discussed in class is important. No problems expected though.
it alright Mr.vinstan i got the answer
thanks
Good
CH4 + 2 O2 → CO2 + 2 H2O + 802.2 kJ
How many liters of O2 at STP would be
required to produce 23 kJ of heat?
is the answer 1.375 L?
and are we suppose to know STP, SATP condition ?
refer to to
http://www.vinstan.com/chem/4u/thermodynamics/tdppt.pdf
this is one of the question on you website
The enthalpy changes for the reactions are
1.C2H2 +5/2O2—>2CO2 +H2O………….
for that question the answer is not going to be
C2H2—-.C6H6.
it is going to be C2H2——-1/3C6H6
could you check it please
This would balance it..
3C2H2—-> C6H6
sorry Mr.Vinstan i got the answer
when is lab due ?
it is not on Tuesday?
Tuesday
Mr.vinstan are we suppose to know example of positive catalyst, and negative catalyst
yes at least one
is it possible for you to post a different file for “Notes on which the lecture was based on partial.”, i can’t really understand
please
what do you mean by this “Determination of rate from concentration / volume / pressure etc and time”
this in on your RATE REVIEW test
Could you post all your questions on the Chemistry Forums as some one might be able to solve the questions and it need not be moderated.
Post complete questions or provide links to the questions before it can be answered.
I am not sure what the question says or which question your are referring too
Practice Assignments
#4 or Factors affecting reaction rates
2. Sketch a potential energy curve that is represented by the following values of ΔH and Ea. You may make up appropriate values for the y-axis (potential energy).
ΔH = -100 kJ and Ea = 20 kJ
Is this an endothermic or exothermic reaction?
Solution:
Since ΔH is a negative number, we know that the reaction is exothermic. Therefore, begin by sketching an exothermic potential energy graph:
Next, assign values to the y-axis that will satisfy our requirements, namely
ΔH = -20 kJ and Ea = +60kJ
you have changes ΔH,Ea
What do you want to know here??
CH3OH + H+ CH3OH2 (slow)
CH3OH2 CH3 + H2O (fast)
CH3COOH H+ + CH3CO2– (fast)
CH3CO2– + CH3 CH3CO2CH3 (fast)
for this question how do we know which is a catalyst
Equation is unclear.
